Hua-a-tau- 2020

With the upcoming Hui-a-tau on Saturday 10th October 2020, the executive have taken under consideration the Level 2 Covid restrictions which impacts the number of whānau that we can safely host at the marae. Therefore, due to these current Covid rules, Te Rūnaka o Makaawhio will be holding this year’s Hui-a-tau, virtually.

We know that this is not ideal but for the safety of all whānau, the executive finds it appropriate to respond in this manner with current restrictions. So, with that in mind, Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio will endeavour to organise the best way possible to hold a virtual Hui-a-tau.

The business of the Annual General Meeting will commence at 10.00am and will be in accordance with Section 7 of the Rules of Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio Society Inc (28/11/15). NOTE: Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio have been in discussions with Ngāi Tahu legal team and a recent law change [COVID-19 Response (Requirements For Entities—Modifications and Exemptions) Act 2020] now allows meetings to be held via zoom.

There are NO Rūnanganui (Executive) positions up for re-election at this year’s Hui-a-tau.

The executive will be speaking to Annual Reports which will be available beforehand and we invite whānau to send in questions before the hui, in addition, there will be a chat function on the day.

The office of Te Rūnanga o Makaawhio will send out more details regarding the virtual hui once organised.

Stay safe whānau.
