Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Memorial Scholarships

The purpose of the Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Memorial Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to exceptional applicants of Māori descent who are undertaking tertiary study and who possess characteristics that consistent with members of the 28th Māori Battalion.

Section 1.01     Eligibility

To be eligible for these scholarships you must be:

Applications for the 2021 Scholarships will open on Monday 1 June 2020, and close on Monday 7 September 2020.

Section 1.03     What does each scholarship provide?

In 2021 the Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Scholarship Fund Board will award seven Scholarships for a total value of up to $260,000:

The duration of the Scholarship will depend on the length of study you are undertaking, and is determined by the Board at the time of assessment.

Section 1.04     What to include in your application

All applicants will need to include:

 

(a)      Undergraduate scholarship

Applicants to the Undergraduate Scholarship will also need to include:

(b)      Master and Master of Education research scholarships

The Board offers two Master scholarships.

One Master of Education research scholarship for candidates who are planning to complete Māori education research as part of their master’s degree.

The research may involve various aspects of Māori education including student learning, teaching methods, teacher training, and classroom dynamics.

Another Master scholarship is offered to candidates studying any other subject.

Applications for both scholarships will need to include a brief statement of up to 250 words, outlining the topic, the reasons for your interest in the subject area, and your future expectations.

Preference will be given to applicants who are able to demonstrate that their studies aim to improve the social, economic, and cultural wellbeing of Māori or are on Māori issues.

Eligible applicants can apply for both scholarships.

(c)      Doctoral scholarship

If you are applying for the doctoral scholarship you will need to include:

Section 1.05     Apply for a Ngārimu Scholarship
